My dad and I went to Hidalgo Street in Quiapo last Saturday (September 8, mama mary's bday) and bought me a DSLR. WOOHOO!!! We only got the whole kit, with bag, filter, 1gig memory and cleaning cloth for only P35,000+. YEAH!!!

So now, to all ye peeps out there, I'd like to announce the name of my new baby CANON EOS 400D (yeah i name my precious gadgets)... CODY!!!

Reunited with my Camera

Oh my dearest boyfriend Canon S3IS, why have you abandoned me for so long? I have been taking pictures with your old friend Canon S45. Elber says, it is not the camera who takes the pictures but the person holding it. I guess, since you are but a tool, even without you I CAN take nice shots. But, it was still difficult not having you. Frustrations flooded me especially when I was itching to take indoor shots or sports photos. Or when I am already losing patience since I do not have a faster way of uploading photos from CF cards and would rather use an SD card. But, past is past! We are reunited once more, that is what's important! I promise to take care of you and no longer keep you anywhere near the reach of my 3 year old destruction team, aka my niece named Arnie.

NOTE: Wala po sanang jellyace! I am talking to my camera who, i mean which, finally after 2 months of repair has finally returned into my longing arms/humble abode.

PS: Thank you dad for the unending patience and understanding, and for all the money you spend supporting your daughter's passion. Thank you my dearest friends for all the support and patience. And for you, Mr. Other Anonymous (I know you'd be reading this at work) thank you for these delicious things called inspiration, patience, support, honesty and slow walks that you continuously serve in my life. Without all you guys, I would never even dare talk to my camera and treat it with any bit of importance. You all showed me what is delicious in life, and in return I will try to share to others what I learned from all of you through my art.

Canon Image Nation

Wow! I'm Canon-ed!

The print ads and banners for the Canon Image Nation Summer '07 (at SM malls nationwide) have been released. I was informed by my cousin, Chin that the Canon booth is currently in SM Mega Mall, located at the Atrium, and will be there until June 3. The photo to the left is just one of at least 5 banners, poster catalogues, and other collaterals that Canon released for their campaign this year.

I am showing you this one, not only because I love Canon cameras but also because I have a delicious photo somewhere in there. I submitted a bunch of photos to Canon for this campaign and they actually used more of my photos in another mosaic, the one which looked like the Philippine Map. I haven’t seen the banners yet, but I think they used the photo below. I'm just not sure yet if there are more photos in there.

Waaahhh! Lord, is this a sign?

Slaving for an SLR or a Lomo

For those who are wondering, what the heck am I doing awake at 4am every morning, I am currently (1) doing Layout rakets for my mom's friends/clients, (2) conceptualizing a story for a children's storybook and trying to learn how to paint and (3) joining other photography rakets/contests... WHY??? Because, I have no allowance during summer and summer is a pretty bad time to discover your passion.

Yes! Finally Dad, i hope you can read this! Your daughter finally discovered what she really loves. The long trial and error process of enrolling me to Yamaha, art classes and other writing or acting workshops is finally over. I've finally realized that besides having an interest with Advertising (which will be my job soon, do not worry, my mentor is already summoning me into her lair), I have a passion for this delicious thing called Photography. (Mas gusto ko kasi atang sabihin kay San Pedro na inalay ko buhay ko sa pag-p-praise kay Lord through arts and showing people what is beautiful and delicious, kesa sa sabihin na nagbenta ako ng sabon. Hehe! Atlhough, wala ring magaganda't malilinis na tao kung walang sabon... Hmmmm...)

It's such a relief to finally shout to the world what is that thing that lies inside your heart. But at the same time, it's scary because you are expected to commit to one.
